NOVEMBER 5 through DECEMBER 31, 2011

Vantag has opened one more place, at Rua D. Manuel II, 320 Porto, featuring the event "RE-CRIAR", which includes site-specific works by Marcela Navascués and Paz Amorim , as well as works by the other artists of the Vantag Collective. Some of the works reach its maximum after sunset.

It's an excelent building with 2 floors and a terrace, so the visitors have good conditions to appreciate the works of Nuno Veloso, Marga Crespo, Jorge Cardoso, Pedro Bruschy, A. De Lima e Adriana Oliveira, besides those already mentioned. There is also a bar area/kitchen, for a light service of beverage and snacks.

One of the rooms in the basement became a place for performances and spontaneous activities, with the participation of
some "pre-teen" friends. We look forward for the next initiative.

SEPTEMBER 17 through OCTOBER 15, 2011

Collective exhibition of works from the  JORGE CARDOSO collection, selected because they all need electric power (hence the title "Plug it in"). We highlight "Internet Dweller" by Nam June Paik, the father of video art. This work was part of the exhibition "The Electronic Super Highway,” that in the 90s travelled around the world (during the exhibition, the movie concerning this itinerancy was shown to the public). The organization of Expo 98 chose this piece for the "Festival of 100 Days", held at Centro Cultural de Belém. It was an important work of art in the exhibition entitled "Journey to the XX century".

This is a true public service initiative.

Pieces in exhibition

APRIL 30 through JUNE 4, 2011

Solo exhibition by Jorge Cardoso, from his series Lying (laying) Lolita's Lying Layers. At each location where it has been shown, this exhibition interacts with the available space and for that reason it is always different! The layers/curtains that visitors must pass were placed in the narrowest part of the gallery. Here the lighting was reduce to a minimum in order to create highlights with spots. The sound file was improved with the cooperation of Pedro Bruschy, another member of the Vantag Collective.

MARCH 12 through APRIL 25, 2011

At the collective exhibition under the title "Aahh!Viva!Le Salon is back!", there are sculptures by Paz Amorim and photographs by Pedro Bruschy, A. De Lima, Nuno Veloso and Adriana Oliveira. The theme was illustrated with an instalation along the gallery walls. The title was "graffitied" in large dimensions, followed  by a mega collage including car registrations and TV monitors.

MARCH 5, 2011

The launch of the silkscreen "Desassossego" by the sculptress Marga Crespo, marked the end of the exhibition by the same artist. The "Desassossego party" involved several simultaneous celebrations, such as the homage to the movie namesake, the celebration of a pre-birthday, and the performance of the "Desassossego Game".

Homage to FantasPorto

At same time, Vantag wanted to pay tribute to FantasPorto, by offering the number 31 of the silkscreen "Desassossego", alluding to the 31º anniversary of the Internacional Fantastic Film Festival. António Reis, director of Fantas, was present.

JANUARY 22 through MARCH 5, 2011

Also in Miguel Bombarda, Vantag accomplished the great exhibition of Marga Crespo "Días de Desasosiego". The works in this series had never been presented all together. A silkscreen of the author on the same topic, with innovative features, was produced at Coop. Árvore.
